Quick tips: straps and brackets installation
How important is the correct fastening of tank brackets and straps?
Let’s start with the basic principle: the correct distribution of weight and force is crucial for the durability of the system.
If we think about it, there are continuous strains that vehicle, machinery and tank are constantly endured during daily work.
When mounting the tank, no matter if it is hydraulic, diesel or combined, the recommendation is to use no. 3 fixing points on the frame in order to distribute the weight equally and not create damaging stresses on the chassis.
The choice of fixing points is facilitated by the design of multiple hole brackets suitable for a wide range of medium, heavy and machinery chassis.
The distance between the brackets must be defined according to the length of the tank and the positioning of the welds.
Once the brackets are mounted, the positioning of the straps must be perpendicular to the tank, with full alignment between upper hook and lower locking bolt.
In this way, the tightening force of the bolt is equally distributed.
At the same time, this ensures that the strap and EPDM gasket fit to the tank.
Positioning the strap inclined at an angle, therefore not perpendicular to the tank, has the consequence that a critical force is applied to a reduced surface area of the strap eyelet and the upper pin, which leads to problematic mechanical stress management.
This can cause damages to the straps itself.
Padoan, in order to better face all working conditions, has also chosen for a long time to provide stainless steel straps.
